Saint John Eudes was a French priest, missionary preacher, founder, and promoter of devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. He founded the Congregation of Jesus and Mary for priestly formation and the Order of Our Lady of Charity for women seeking a new life after exploitation. His writings connect liturgy, mission, pastoral reform, and the interior formation of Christ in the believer. He helped establish public liturgical celebrations of the Sacred Heart before they became universal.
