Our Mission
Bringing Scripture to Every Believer
Catecharium exists to put the Church's own reading of Scripture, faithful and formation-centered, within reach of every believer, regardless of where they live or whether their parish offers programming.
We believe that Scripture is not meant to be read alone. The Catholic tradition has always understood the Word of God as something encountered in community, under the guidance of the Church, and in dialogue with the saints and scholars who came before us. Catecharium is built on that conviction.
Our Story
How It Began
Catecharium was founded in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, by a Catholic layperson who saw a gap: parishioners hungry for deeper Scripture engagement but unable to access quality, consistent Catholic formation in it.
Many Catholics live in communities without serious Scripture formation, or with schedules that leave no room for it. Catecharium was built to close that gap, offering the flexibility of an online platform and the richness of Catholic biblical scholarship.
The name comes from the Greek katecheo, to instruct by the living voice, the word behind catechesis; it is pronounced kat-uh-KAR-ee-um.

We believe depth and accessibility are not in tension. Catecharium is designed to meet learners wherever they are, geographically and spiritually.
A Note on Our Scope
At launch, Catecharium serves the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church. We have deep respect for the Byzantine and Eastern Catholic traditions and intend to expand our content to serve those communities in a future release. All are welcome to participate.
A Note on Affiliation
Catecharium is an independent Catholic publisher. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any diocese, parish, the USCCB, or the Holy See, including parishes and dioceses that use Catecharium with their own members. No Reading Edition we publish carries a nihil obstat or imprimatur.
