About Lectio Studies

Rooted in Scripture. Built for Community.

Our Mission

Bringing Scripture to Every Believer

Lectio Studies exists to make faithful, formation-centered Catholic Bible study accessible to every believer — regardless of where they live or whether their parish offers programming.

We believe that Scripture is not meant to be read alone. The Catholic tradition has always understood the Word of God as something encountered in community, under the guidance of the Church, and in dialogue with the saints and scholars who came before us. Lectio Studies is built on that conviction.

Our Story

How It Began

Lectio Studies was founded in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, by a Catholic layperson who saw a gap: parishioners hungry for deeper Scripture engagement but unable to access quality, consistent small-group formation.

Many Catholics live in communities without active Bible study programs, or work schedules that make in-person attendance impossible. Lectio Studies was built to close that gap — combining the intimacy of a small cohort with the flexibility of an online platform and the richness of Catholic biblical scholarship.

The name comes from Lectio Divina — the ancient practice of prayerful Scripture reading — a tradition that has formed disciples from the desert fathers to the present day.

What We Stand For

Our Commitments

Fidelity to the Magisterium

Our content is rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church, drawing on Scripture, Sacred Tradition, the Catechism, and the Church Fathers.

Community-Centered Learning

Every study is experienced within a cohort of 4–12 participants. Formation happens in relationship, not isolation.

Accessibility Without Compromise

We believe depth and accessibility are not in tension. Lectio Studies is designed to meet learners wherever they are — geographically and spiritually.

A Note on Our Scope

At launch, Lectio Studies serves the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church. We have deep respect for the Byzantine and Eastern Catholic traditions and intend to expand our content to serve those communities in a future release. All are welcome to participate.
