Saint Ignatius of Loyola

Saint Ignatius was a Basque soldier whose conversion during recovery from a battlefield wound led to a life of pilgrimage, study, and apostolic service. He founded the Society of Jesus and became its first superior general. His Spiritual Exercises guide retreatants through meditation on sin, Christ’s life, discernment, election, Passion, and Resurrection. Ignatius’s spirituality emphasizes finding God in all things and ordering desires toward God’s greater glory.
