Saint Aristides of Athens

Saint Aristides was an early Christian apologist, probably active at Athens in the reign of Hadrian or Antoninus Pius. His surviving Apology presents Christianity to a pagan ruler as the true worship of the one Creator and contrasts Christian moral life with pagan and other religious practices. The work is valuable because it offers an early external-facing explanation of Christian belief and conduct. Little else is known securely about his life.
