How Lectio Studies Works
A guided, community-rooted approach to Catholic Scripture study.
The Cohort Model
Learning Together, Not Alone
Every Bible study on Lectio Studies takes place within a cohort — a small, intentional group of 4 to 12 participants moving through the same material on the same schedule.
Cohorts are the heart of the platform. They provide accountability, shared insight, and the kind of conversation that can only happen when a group has read the same passage and brought their own experiences to it.
Your Week
Your Week on Lectio Studies
Each study week follows a consistent structure designed to deepen engagement without overwhelming your schedule.

Step 1
Read the Assigned Passage
Each week, your cohort receives a Scripture reading linked directly to the USCCB — the approved Catholic translation used throughout the platform. Readings are typically one to three chapters, paired with study notes and key vocabulary.

Step 2
Reflect and Post
Share your reflections on your cohort's message board. Read what others have written. The async board is threaded and focused — a space for genuine formation, not social media.

Step 3
Join the Live Session
Once a week, your cohort meets for a live video or audio call led by your study facilitator. This is where questions are answered, themes are synthesized, and community is built.

Step 4
Go Deeper (optional)
Each week includes optional enrichment activities — games, vocabulary exercises, and reference tools drawn from Catholic biblical scholarship. Available to Standard and Premium subscribers.

Leadership
Who Leads the Studies?
Studies on Lectio Studies are led by qualified facilitators — deacons, religious educators, and lay Catholic scholars committed to faithful, formation-centered teaching. Our pilot program is led by a founding parish deacon.
Facilitators guide weekly live sessions, seed the message board with discussion questions, and provide pastoral context for the Scripture being studied.
