Saint Joan of Arc

Saint Joan of Arc was a French peasant who reported divine guidance, helped inspire French forces during the Hundred Years’ War, and supported the coronation of Charles VII. Captured by opposing forces, she was tried by an ecclesiastical court and burned as a heretic at about nineteen. A later rehabilitation trial overturned the conviction. She was canonized in 1920 and is remembered for courage, obedience to conscience, and fidelity under interrogation.
