Thomas Worthington

Thomas Worthington was an English Catholic priest and biblical scholar associated with the English College at Douai. He participated in the production and revision of the Douay Old Testament and wrote annotations defending Catholic doctrine and interpretation. During the English mission he also held leadership roles among exiled and missionary clergy. His work represents the recusant scholarly tradition from which both the Douay-Rheims Bible and later commentaries such as Haydock’s developed.
